The Next Generation channel-in-a-box playout appliance

Sapphire is the next generation video server/automation package integrated into a high performance server with high capacity hot swap storage. Combining Masstech’s PUB-2000 decoder board with Masstech’s own automation software, Sapphire delivers frame accurate and controlled playout.

Sapphire provides multi-format, SD and HD simultaneous playout with automatic up or down converting for back to back SD and HD outputs.

Traditionally you must ingest directly into a video server following the old concept that the automation system must control content ingest in order to playout the content. Sapphire is built to live in a file based world. It is not concerned where content resides, or its format. It lives in a world where Masstech TOPAZ or INDIGO delivers content to it when it requests that content for transmission. Sapphire can also collect content from XT-Ingest or be configured to other storage locations with content that can be easily dragged and dropped into Sapphire’s inventory.

  • “Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) in India is deploying SAPPHIRE to execute an efficient SD/HD file based playout of their various education channels. CEC chose to work with Masstech because they were impressed with SAPPHIRE’s easy operation and product design and how it seamlessly integrates into their broadcast system.”
